Caddo Clothing: Traditional Men's Shirts (continued)

Caddo men aren't the only ones who need to be properly attired for traditional dances and events. This baby shirt is a perfect example of how traditional clothing can be adapted for Caddo people of any age. This baby shirt snaps at the bottom like a "onesie" to make diaper changes easier. The creative design still keeps many of the key characteristics of Caddo shirts, including the vertical pleats on the front and the ribbon on the front and the cuffs.

Many people in the community may remember seeing this shirt at dances and other community events. Like the baby shirt above, this shirt keeps many of the key characteristics of traditional Caddo shirts. However, there are a few notable innovations. First, this shirt does not button at the front like most Caddo shirts. Instead, it simply pulls over the head, perfect for those who have trouble with buttons or just like the open-necked look. Second, this shirt lacks ruffles on its cuffs, which many other Caddo shirts have. Yet even with these differences, this is still essentially, a traditional Caddo shirt.
