a report on the status of the tribe, plus an open discussion with the
tribal membership. Refreshments will be served. Please plan to attend this very
important meeting!
Regarding
meetings held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month (10 March
2005)
Previously, the Caddo
Nation Tribal Council agreed to meet on the first and third Tuesday of
every month. This was not passed by a resolution, nor was this schedule
set in stone. It was mutually agreed upon for the convenience of the
council members. A meeting held on one of these days and attended by
past and current members of the tribal council does not automatically
qualify as a tribal council meeting. Legitimate council meetings are
called by the Chairperson of the tribe. Recent meetings held by LaCreda
Daugomah, Christine Noah, Ann Donaghey, Mary Pat Clark and Marilyn
Threlkeld in the break room at the tribal complex were not called by
Chairperson Parker and are therefore not legitimate meetings of the
Caddo Nation Tribal Council. They are merely informal meetings in a
public place attended by people, two of whom happen to be current
council members and three of whom were removed by the Caddo Nation
membership. As public meetings, any tribal member should be allowed to
attend and talk to the other participants. Several members asked at the
recent membership meeting how they are to ask questions of the Tribal
Council when they (several Council members) do not attend the
membership meetings. These informal public meetings held in the break
room of the tribal complex would be an opportunity for the membership
to ask questions of these people. If you would like to attend one of
these meetings, simply call the tribal complex and inquire as to
whether a meeting is being held.
Sincerely,
LaRue Martin Parker
Chairperson, Caddo Nation of Oklahoma
