HIGHER EDUCATION PROGRAM

The purpose of the Higher Education Program is to provide scholarships to eligible Caddo students who are working towards an Associate’s degree (except for the Associate of Applied Science degree) or their first Bachelor’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution (meets the procedures and criteria for accreditation by U.S. Secretary of Education).

This program provides scholarships for the maximum of ten (10) terms, anywhere in the United States.

Eligibility

Applicants must be enrolled members of the Caddo nation, possess a high school diploma or GED, must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Participants who are in default of a student loan are not eligible for this program unless a payment agreement has been arranged. Previous account balances cannot be funded through this program.

Program Requirements

Participants are required to complete 12 hours per semester with a Grade Point Average no lower than 2.0, which is a C-average. Those who fail to meet these requirements will be placed on probation and their scholarships subject to termination. Students who wish to receive the full amount of the Caddo nation Higher education Program scholarship must be enrolled as a full-time student (12 or more hours). Part-time students, enrolled in 6 to 11 hours, are eligible for half of the full-time scholarship.

All students must submit an application at the beginning of the academic year (Fall Term). If the applicant will be attending the same school for the academic year, it is not necessary to submit a new mid-year application, but an Official transcript showing grades for the Fall term, and a Verification of Enrollment for the Spring term will need to be submitted before the applicant will be considered for a Spring term scholarship. If there are significant changes, such as transferring to another school, a new mid-term application will be required.

Scholarships are awarded on a first come, first served basis for completed applications. This means that ALL required documentation to accompany the application has been submitted to the Caddo Nation Education Department. Scholarship amounts vary and are based on unmet need according to the Financial Needs Analysis form that is completed by the school’s Financial Aid Office.

DEADLINES:
Fall Term – July 15th, Spring Term – November 15TH

FUNDING IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR SUMMER TERMS
